Two years ago, my differential was rebuilt by a local shop, and I think the job was done incorrectly. The '93 FSM specifies a ring and pinion backlash of .005-.007". If I am reading this correctly, that translates to almost no freeplay between the driveshaft input, and the output flanges on either side. The freeplay currently observed at the output [side] flanges suggests the ring and pinion backlash is way more than that. Courtesy wants $1700 for a new unit which I might pay if I cannot find another qualified parts/rebuild source. Is there a driveline specialist anyone can recommend who has proven capabilities on our R230V Rear Final Drive Assy?
